This is an exhibition of SCRAM, a brand created to raise awareness of senior-targeted scam calls in Mecklenburg County, as well as to educate and empower seniors. SCRAM’s products include an informational one-page website, a gift box including various SCRAM-brand household items, and an awareness-based poster series.
The brand of SCRAM pairs approachability and urgency with bold type, playful-yet-serious colors, and comic-inspired visuals. The name “SCRAM” is also memorable play on “scam.” To ensure that SCRAM’s message and values can be seen through its branding, I interviewed several North Carolina seniors who each had unique encounters with scammers, as well as a former law enforcement worker who specialized in fraud.
SCRAM Gift Package
This custom-made SCRAM gift package includes two front-and-back drink coasters, two fridge magnets, and eleven individual SCRAM stickers. These items are meant for seniors to place anywhere around the house, as reminders of what to do when dealing with a scam call… just say “SCRAM!”
SCRAM Poster Series
This awareness-based poster series for SCRAM includes different scenarios of seniors hanging up on a scam call. These posters take a humorous angle, showing these interactions with scammers as effortless rather than scary. After all, seniors should be able to face scammers with confidence, not fear!
